On March 12, the secretary of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, U.S. Rep. Chuck Edwards and the CEO of Givens Communities all came to Marion Thursday to discuss plans to convert the old Clinchfield Mill into affordable apartments for older adults.
“This building was an empty textile mill and now it's being turned into affordable housing for 200 seniors," said the secretary for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
The meeting room was packed with people, many of whom were there to hear about the reappraisal, which started around a year ago and is still underway.
