Missing Bigfoot: Metal silhouette stolen from Marion yard

This Bigfoot silhouette, cut out of sheet metal to look like the folklore figure, was stolen last week from a Marion yard

McDowell investigators need the public’s help locating Bigfoot memorabilia stolen from someone’s yard last week.

On Saturday, March 15, Danny Shaw of Hidden View Loop in Marion reported that someone had stolen a 7-foot tall metal Bigfoot silhouette, valued at approximately $100, from his yard.

According to Shaw, the silhouette, which was formed out of sheet metal and purchased at a Charlotte auto fair last year, was last seen in his yard on Wednesday, March 13. The following day around 5 p.m., Shaw says that his neighbors alerted him that the Bigfoot had gone missing.

“It costs about $100, but it’s priceless to our family,” said Shaw.

Anyone with information concerning the silhouette's whereabouts or potential suspect(s) is asked to call the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office at 652-2235 or McDowell County Crime Stoppers at 65-CRIME (652-7463). You can also text your tips to Crime Stoppers. Text TIP MCDOWELLSO and your information to 888777. With Crime Stoppers, your identity remains anonymous, and you could receive a cash reward.
