Volunteers assembled in the mountains of western North Carolina this month to complete a mission of hope for Matthew and Jerri Young, a family whose lives were changed by Hurricane Helene.
Starting during the week of April 20 in Spruce Pine, volunteers began constructing a brand-new three-bedroom, two-bathroom home for the family of Matthew and Jerri Young.
Matthew and Jerri Young have three children. Their oldest child, Nicholas, and his wife, Kayla, live in Raleigh and are expecting their first child. Their oldest daughter, Tyler, and her husband, Drew, live in Summerville, South Carolina, with 8-month-old Luna. Their youngest child, McKinna, is a student at Appalachian State University. They have a dog named Murphy and two cats, Tinkerbell and Felix.
