Recently, N.C. Rep. Dudley Greene announced he would move back to his home place in Avery County. the Republican lawmaker will still represent McDowell in the N.C. House since the 85th District covers both McDowell and Avery counties as well as Mitchell.
For almost 30 years, Dudley Greene has served the people of McDowell County as a detective with the Sheriff’s Office, then as sheriff of McDowell and most recently as a member of the N.C. House of Representatives.
In 2012, Investigation Discovery, a subsidiary of the Discovery Channel that features crime-related content, interviewed then-Sheriff Dudley Greene for its second season of “Nightmare Next Door.”
