One of the best known traditional dishes in El Salvador is pupusa, which is a corn tortilla stuffed with cheese and different types of meat. Pupusa is also served with a curtido (a cabbage relish) and a tomato sauce that is not like salsa or other tomato-based sauces. You can also enjoy horchata, which is a popular drink in El Salvador. It is a beverage made from cinnamon, rice and milk. It is very common in Latin America and the Salvadoran version uses morro seed.
A small and somewhat overlooked family-owned eatery on Rutherford Road has brought the flavors of El Salvador to Marion. And patrons of this hidden gem of a restaurant are responding with rave reviews.
