After delivering game-winners against North Greenville and Newberry, the sophomore struck first on Wednesday, scoring a 61st-minute goal at Barton to break a scoreless tie before Catawba came away with a 3-0 victory. The midfielder did his damage early against Mars Hill by recording an eighth-minute goal before firing off two more shots on goal in the 14th minute in a 2-0 win.
Quintas earned his second consecutive Defensive Player of the Week honors behind two more shutouts and recording an assist.
The freshman played all 180 minutes, leading Catawba's tenacious defensive efforts. The blue and white did not allow Mars Hill to take a single shot on goal on Saturday. After a Lions foul, Quintas corralled a free kick and delivered a perfect pass to Gabriel Miranda, who scored in the 79th minute. The defensive leader also played a foul-free contest in the shutout victory at Barton.
Catawba (4-0-1, 2-0-0 SAC) leads the SAC in goals per game with 2.80, while holding opponents to the fewest goals per game at 0.60.
The Catawba Indians will be back in action when they host Virginia State on Wednesday, Sept. 16, at 7 p.m. for the Fletcher Harris Memorial Game at Frock Field.
