This weekend, the McDowell County Country Music Roundup is bringing classic country sounds to Camping World in Marion. The stage is set and attendees were busy getting their seats ready underneath the pavilion at Camping World’s Rally Park. Award-winning national music festival promoter Evans Media Source is presenting this event, featuring traditional country music, at Camping World of Marion on Friday, Aug. 11 and Saturday, Aug. 12. The festival features such stars as Dailey & Vincent, T. Graham Brown, Tony Jackson, The Malpass Brothers, Mo Pitney, Leona Williams, Redd Volkaert, Ron Williams and Caroline Owens. There are also family activities, food trucks and camping. Before the show got underway, promoter Ernie Evans and Redd Volkaert, who was a guitar player for country music great Merle Haggard, posed for a McDowell News photo. Friday night will feature a special tribute to the legendary Haggard with some of his former band members. Sherry Boyd will be the mistress of ceremonies for the McDowell County Roundup. On Friday, she prepared to make some announcements at the pavilion's stage. This event draws thousands of people to McDowell County and many of them park their campers and RVs in the rally park. There are food vendors selling hamburgers, barbecue, ice cream and other tasty foods. The doors for the McDowell County Roundup will be open from noon until 9:30 p.m. on Saturday. Camping World Rally Park is located at 1885 U.S. 70 West in Marion.
