Culturas Unidas Festival 2023 held Saturday in downtown Marion

On Saturday, the second annual Culturas Unidas Festival in downtown Marion celebrated our local community’s diversity and rich cultural heritage. The Culturas Festival was held at the Marion Tailgate Market and hosted by Centro Unido Latino-Americano. The positive and uplifting festival also marked the celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month from Friday, Sept. 15, to Sunday, Oct. 15. During Saturday’s event, organizers hosted live music from the band group Son del Callao and DJ Pacheco. Dancers in colorful clothes performed onstage to traditional Mexican music. Other folks danced off stage and even did Hispanic versions of line dancing. There were volunteers taking groups of people to view and take photos at the “See Our Voices” art mural at Mica Town Brewing. Marion Mayor Steve Little read aloud the official proclamation of Hispanic Heritage Month for the city. There were food vendors, cultural presentations, traditional Latin dances, craft vendors and more. There were information tables by Mission Health, McDowell Public Library, the Corpening YMCA, Vaya Health, the Rotary Club of Marion, Baxter Healthcare and others.
