On Saturday, Feb. 28, the Stuckey’s/Dairy Queen store and restaurant on Parker Padgett Road near Old Fort caught fire. Nearly two weeks later, it has a tarp on the roof.

On Wednesday, a couple of the employees were waiting at the closed Stuckey’s and Dairy Queen for the owner to arrive so he could bring them and their fellow workers their paychecks.

The windows of Stuckey's, which got a lot of smoke and fire damage, are now boarded up and yellow caution tape is wrapped around the building.

As of Sunday, the building is surrounded by yellow caution tape. According to comments on Facebook, no one was hurt in the fire, and the owner intends to rebuild.

“I just happened to look back, and the flames were already up to the ceiling, and I dropped the drinks I had in my hand,” one employee said of the fire.
