On Sept. 23, the first part of Grier Village, called Copper Ridge, was formally opened with a ribbon-cutting ceremony by the McDowell Chamber of Commerce.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony on Wednesday included remarks from Chamber President Kim Effler and a reception with live music, locally made food and craft beer and wine in the pavilion at Copper Ridge.

Each of the five lodges or cabins at Copper Ridge have five bedrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, fireplaces and five bathrooms with walk-in showers.
