Postgame coverage: A guide to the Buffalo Bills 56-26 victory over the Miami Dolphins

It was early in the second quarter of the Bills’ 56-26 stomping of the overmatched Miami Dolphins in the regular season finale Sunday when a CBS camera caught Stefon Diggs flossing his teeth on the sideline, a moment made for social media.

“Practicing good hygiene... Everybody know how the orange slices be,” he tweeted hours later.

Momentum doesn't get any stronger than the runaway train that is the Buffalo Bills entering the postseason.

It isn't only that they've won six games in a row. It's that all the victories, including a 56-26 pounding of the Miami Dolphins in Sunday's regular-season finale at Bills Stadium, have been by double digits. The last playoff-bound team to finish their schedule that way was the Seattle Seahawks in 2004.

The Miami Dolphins have a major Josh Allen problem.

The Dolphins love to play man-to-man coverage. They love to bring pressure on the quarterback. They’ve invested heavily in cornerbacks who can execute their scheme.

First quarter

The Bills have opened as a seven-point favorite over the Indianapolis Colts for next weekend's wild-card game. 

The game is scheduled for Saturday at 1:05 p.m. at Bills Stadium.  

Isaiah McKenzie had a field day against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday.

The Buffalo Bills’ gadget receiver exploded for 65 yards on six catches, two of which went for touchdowns, in the Bills’ 56-26 win at Bills Stadium. McKenzie wasn’t finished, though, as he also returned a punt 84 yards for another score in the win – Buffalo’s first punt return for a touchdown since Marcus Thigpen against Green Bay on Dec. 14, 2014.

The Bills emphatically locked up the No. 2 seed in the AFC playoffs with a victory against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday. 

They will host Frank Reich and the Indianapolis Colts next weekend in a wild-card game Saturday at 1:05 p.m. The Colts reached the playoffs with a 28-14 win against Jacksonville on Sunday.

Josh Allen added the Bills' franchise record for passing yards to his collection of team records Sunday. 

Allen eclipsed Drew Bledsoe's total of 4,359, set in 2002, in the second quarter on a 6-yard completion to running back Devin Singletary. against the Miami Dolphins at Bills Stadium.

Josh Allen arrived at Bills Stadium on Sunday wearing a “Pancho’s Army” jacket in tribute to late Bills superfan Ezra “Pancho Billa” Castro.

The military-style jacket had Allen’s name on the left breast, and a Pancho logo on the back with “Pancho’s Army” over the logo and “Viva Los Bills” under the logo. A red standing Buffalo is at the bottom of the back, along with a 60^th anniversary team logo from last season.

The Bills finished the season tied with an NFL record as 13 different receivers caught a touchdown pass, including quarterback Josh Allen.

They had an opportunity to hold the record on their own Sunday during an explosive 56-26 victory against the Miami Dolphins, but Isaiah McKenzie, John Brown and Gabriel Davis caught the TD passes. Antonio Williams, in his first action of the season, scored two rushing TDs, and offensive coordinator Brian Daboll didn't pull a tackle eligible play out of his bag of tricks.

The Carolina Panthers have requested permission to interview Bills Assistant General Manager Joe Schoen for their GM vacancy, according to the NFL Network. Schoen spent seven years in Carolina's scouting department, where he broke into the NFL as an intern.

The Panthers' initial requests also include Patriots Director of Player Personnel Nick Caserio and Browns Vice President of Football Operations Kwesi Adofo-Mensah, with more requests to come, per the report.

Stefon Diggs already had the Bills' franchise record for receptions and receiving yards in a season, and leads the league in both categories.

He added the NFL mark for most receiving yards by a player in his first year with a new team.
