A group of McDowell County students want to honor local law enforcement and emergency services for their swift response when McDowell High School got a call about an alleged shooting threat on Jan. 21.
At Monday’s meeting, four student leaders from McDowell High School spoke to the McDowell County Board of Commissioners. They were Katelyn Finley, Stella Webb, Jeremy Berry and Reid Waugh, all of whom are members of the Chick-fil-A Leader Academy.
The boardroom of the McDowell County Administrative Offices was full Monday evening as numerous people came out to hear the presentation by the student leaders from the Chick-fil-A Leader Academy at McDowell High.
Chuck Abernathy, who is the director of the McDowell Economic Development Association, gave an overview of the association’s activities over the past year to the McDowell County Board of Commissioners.
