And most significant of all, 2024 will always be remembered for the resilience of McDowell businesses owners following the flooding of Hurricane Helene.
Not long after it was announced that the Roses discount store would close, city of Marion officials confirmed that a Hobby Lobby would take its place. A coming soon sign for Hobby Lobby confirmed the plan.
The long-awaited reopening of Mr. Bob’s Do-Nuts happened in November at the original location at 60 S. Main St. After an absence of a few years, owners Robert and Bernice Masiello brought back their business back to downtown Marion.
