A special event at Highland Brewing Event Center in Asheville will seek to raise money for small farmers and organizations who provide nutritious food to the people of western North Carolina. The Foothills Food Hub in McDowell County is one of those partners that will benefit from this event.
“However, in 2025 we lost significant funding due to cuts at the federal and state level,” said Grace Fitzgerald, executive director of the Foothills Food Hub. “This inaugural fundraising event, the Hubbub, will help fill the gaps so we can keep building a thriving, local food system for all.”
The event on Saturday in Asheville will benefit trusted food system partners who support small farms and feed western North Carolina, including the Foothills Food Hub in McDowell.
In 2025, Foothills Food Hub fed neighbors across McDowell County by moving 390,000 pounds of food through the community and investing $627,000 in local agriculture through purchasing from small farms.
Centro Unido is accepting vendors for the March event, the release said.
