NFL Week 1 picks and predictions: Giants over Cowboys on Sunday Night Football

The 2023 NFL season is here. Finally.

Welcome back, my friends, to our weekly pick ’em column, where yours truly will pick each NFL game against the spread.

But before we get to the much-anticipated Week 1 selections, let’s recap.

In FrontPageBets’ inaugural year, we saw some good and bad, some highs and lows, some brilliance and some buffoonery.

My record against the spread for the 2022 18-week regular season was 131-135-5 – four games below .500 and hitting just over 49% ain’t too bad.

Straight up was even better, finishing 168-101-2 … that’s 63%.

How about the playoffs? Well, we won’t talk about that.

While the biggest game this week is the Monday night showdown between the Buffalo Bills and New York Jets and all the Aaron Rodgers headlines, let’s not forget a little Sunday night ditty between the Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants.

I really like the Giants here, and not just to cover the 3 points. I’m rolling with the G-Men winning straight up.

Consider this: The Giants were the best team in the NFL against the spread last season, finishing 14-5. They were underdogs in 14 of their games and came out 11-3 ATS.

Dallas finished 2022 at 8-5 against the spread, but were 3-3 as a favorite on the road.

There’s just too much to like with this talented Giants team opening the season at home against a massive NFC East rival.
