Updated 2024 NBA Finals odds: Favorites, best bets & more as Conference Finals tip off

We're getting a new NBA Champion for a sixth season in a row after the Timberwolves knocked out the defending champion Nuggets in Game 7 to advance to the Western Conference Finals against the Mavericks.

The Celtics and Pacers will tip things off out East after Indy took down New York in Game 7 at MSG.

NBA Finals favorite pick: Boston Celtics (-150 or better)

The Celtics handled the Cavaliers almost as easily as they did the Heat. But like Miami, Cleveland played without their biggest star for most of the series.

That won't be the case for them this next series, as the Pacers are arguably the healthiest out of the four remaining teams.

Even so, Boston should easily go thorough Indiana and complete their cake walk to the Finals.

2024 NBA Finals odds: Minnesota Timberwolves (+275 or better) 

After stunning Denver on their home floor in Game 7, the Timberwolves took back home-court advantage for this last series of the West playoffs.

Hosting Luka, Kyrie and the Mavs, who just took down the No. 1 seed Thunder in six games, won't be easy. The T-Wolves are -170 to make the Finals, so it should be a great series.

However, between Minnesota and Dallas, the Timberwolves likely have the better chance of defeating Boston in the Finals. Mike Conley's veteran presence is perfect for Anthony Edwards and KAT/Gobert/Reid provide a ton of size to handle things on the inside.

The key will come on defense -- can they continue showing flashes of brilliance on that end of the floor?

NBA Finals 2024 long shot pick: Dallas Mavericks (+500 or better)

Like Minnesota, Dallas can also turn it up on the defensive end, something that might be surprising to hear when you just think of Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving.

But it's true. We saw it against the Clippers and again against OKC.

Combine that with the obvious offensive threats in the backcourt, P.J. Washington's emergence and the contributions we've seen inside from Daniel Gafford and Derrick Lively in the paint, and you've got a recipe for a possible Cinderella team.
