Michael L. Nichols MARION Michael L. Nichols, 68, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2014 at Memorial Campus of Mission Hospital in Asheville. A native of McDowell County, Michael was born Dec. 20, 1945 and was a son of the late Robert Lee Nichols and Mary Pearl Williams Nichols. Michael was a member of Clinchfield United Methodist Church and worked his entire career in the furniture industry. He ultimately retired from Ferguson Copeland Furniture Industries in Morganton. He was a very talented person who also built furniture at home and really enjoyed his work. Michael was a very quiet person who, more than anything, enjoyed being at home with his family. Left to cherish Mr. Nichols' memory is his wife of 46 years, Margaret Webb Nichols, of the home; two sons, David Paul Nichols and wife, Rachel of Marion and Michael Scott Nichols also of Marion; two daughters, Brenda Duvall and husband, David of West Virginia and Mary Rhinehart and fianc‚, Robert Lewis, of Marion; one brother, Larry Nichols of Marion; two sisters, Anna Woody and Teresa Ledford, both of Marion; one half sister, Dora Nichols of Marion; five grandsons; one granddaughter; and one great-grandchild. A memorial service will be held Sunday, Nov. 23, at 2 p.m. at Clinchfield United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ray Davis officiating.
