Jim Hunt, the longest-serving governor in North Carolina history, died Thursday at age 88, according to a news release from his daughter Lt. Gov. Rachel Hunt.

Former N.C. Gov. Jim Hunt has died, his daughter Lt. Gov. Rachel Hunt, said in a news release Thursday. Hunt served as governor of the state for 16.
