Some people took their pets to shelters because they couldn't evacuate with them.

A growing force of firefighters and equipment moved into the Los Angeles area Monday as another round of powerful winds threatened to trigger new wildfires.

While authorities don't know what sparked the deadly fires in the Los Angeles area, they do know that embers have helped spread the flames.

About 850 patients and residents of nursing, assisted living and group homes were evacuated, the state Department of Public Health says.

The couple, who rose to stardom on "The Hills," filed the lawsuit Tuesday along with more than 20 other property owners and residents who were affected by the Palisades Fire.
