Tropical Storm Helene devastates McDowell County with flood waters, high winds

Tropical Storm Helene swept through McDowell County and the rest of western North Carolina Friday leaving massive destruction in its wake.

The area around U.S. Highway 221 Business in Marion was flooded by the storm and the Riverbreeze Campground was underwater by Friday. The people at the campground were evacuated and some of their campers were moved to higher ground.
