Two dedicated advocates for the homeless animals of McDowell County were honored Tuesday by the Marion City Council as Citizens of the Month for November. During the regular meeting, Council Member Ann Harkey (far left) announced Susan Menard (second from left) and Hayley Wood (second from right) were her selections for Citizens of the Month. They are local animal advocates with the Mercy Fund Animal Rescue. Specifically, Menard and Wood have been leaders in Mercy Fund’s Trap, Neuter, Return program for feral cats. Mayor Steve Little presented them with certificates.
Pawfest 2022 will be Saturday, Nov. 5 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, 1496 Jacktown Road, Marion. This will be the first Pawfest by Mercy Fund Animal Rescue.
