On Friday, Michelle McEntire (left) took the oath to become the newest District Court judge for McDowell and Rutherford counties. The swearing-in ceremony was held in the main courtroom of the McDowell County Courthouse. Chief District Court Judge Robert K. Martelle (right) administered the oath to McEntire while her mother, Ann McEntire, (center) held the Bible. Her first cousin, Judge Ted McEntire (not pictured), helped her put on her judicial robes.

Judge Michelle McEntire fills the vacancy left after the retirement of Judge Randy Pool. “I have been privileged to meet and work with so many people in our district,” she said in her statement. “Part of what I enjoy most in this profession is talking with individuals and hearing their stories, and I will miss working closely with my clients and helping them through their legal issues.
