Halloween Pizza and Dance Party delights young and old in downtown Marion

On the evening of Friday, Oct. 23, the third annual Halloween Pizza & Dance Party, hosted by Barefoot Baby Foundation, was held at the Marion Tailgate Market shelter on West Henderson Street. This party was also sponsored by the city of Marion. “Our goal has always been to create a fun, welcoming event where families can come together, make memories, and enjoy themselves without having to spend a lot of money,” said organizer Alyssa Hughes with the Barefoot Baby Foundation in a previous story. Participants could enjoy free food and treats, and a total of 200 pizzas were provided by Little Caesars, plus free fruit punch. Jumpin’ Around brought free popcorn and Snow Cones. Additional food vendors were on-site with items available for purchase, including The Parlor Car serving soup, Queen of Cups Coffee and a few other local favorites. Above the Barre dancers kicked off the party with a performance, and Old School Honky Tonk dancers led interactive line dancing for the crowd. And immediately afterward, the DIY Costume Contest, with a board game prize donated by The Table Top Inn bed and breakfast, took place. Throughout the evening, there was music, interactive dancing, a plate spinner, a juggler and even fire breathing to delight the crowd. Before the Halloween Pizza & Dance Party, the McDowell Chamber of Commerce held a trick-or-treat event along Main Street in Marion with numerous local businesses taking part. “Thank you again to everyone who helped make the party happen, and to everyone who attended,” Hughes said. “We had a wonderful time celebrating with you, and we hope you make some more memories with your families this weekend!”
