GALLERY: ‘SNOW’ many students at Glenwood learn about different career paths

Glenwood Elementary School hosted a "Snowmen at Work" Parent Night on Thursday, Jan. 27, with a focus on careers. Each class picked a different career to research, and decorated their class snowman in attire based on that chosen career. Students also had the opportunity to decorate an individual snowman based on the career they want to pursue when they grow up. In addition to the snowmen dressed as different job titles, the school also invited the CTE (Career & Technical Education) Program from McDowell High School and McDowell Technical Community College to set up a booth for parents to explore future career and college choices for their students. Parents were invited to walk through the hallways to see the various "Snowmen at Work'' and explore the booths during the event. Each student was presented with a snow-themed book and families were offered hot chocolate and a cupcake. “Parents were very excited to be able to be in the building face-to-face and appreciated a night dedicated solely to colleges and careers,” said Glenwood Principal Deeana Ray.
