Rusty’s Legacy rescues dogs from high-kill shelters. All dogs receive medical treatment, behavioral and temperament evaluations and are spayed or neutered before adoption with the exception of puppies under the age of 16 weeks. Adoption events are held at the Black Mountain and Morganton Tractor Supply stores from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. alternate Saturdays. The rescue is open to the public Thursdays from 4-8 p.m.; Fridays and Sundays from 2-6 p.m. They are located at 139 Lytle Mountain Road in Marion.

Bruce is an 18-month-old blue/white pit bull with mesmerizing blue eyes. Bruce is fine with friendly, female dogs and is great with adults and children. Bruce will fence fight with male dogs. Bruce needs to be the only male dog. We are looking for an experienced dog owner.

Chyna is a two year old "pocket pit", meaning she is small in size. Chyna has been successfully treated for heartworms. This dog is very loving and a bit possessive. The ideal home for Chyna is a person who wants to be the center of their dog’s universe. Chyna is house trained, leash trained and very smart.

Clifford has graduated from the New Leash on Life training program. Clifford now knows all basic commands; he is house trained and wonderful on leash. Clifford loves people and does fine with other dogs. Clifford is 2 ½ years old and is a Swiss Mountain Dog mix.
