New Rotary Club looking to plant roots in Old Fort
FROM STAFF REPORTS
People in Old Fort who are interested in making a local impact and building friendships can attend a "Discover Rotary" event next month.
The gathering, hosted by the western North Carolina Rotary District 7670, aims to gauge interest in chartering a new Rotary Club for the Old Fort area.
McDowell County has a Rotary Club in Marion.
Rotary International focuses on "Service Above Self," tackling challenges ranging from local literacy and hunger to global health initiatives, according to a news release from Rotary District 7670.
This informational social event will be held on Tuesday, April 7, from 6-8 p.m. at Euda Wine, located at 164 Commerce St., Old Fort. It's an opportunity for residents and business owners to learn how a local chapter can support the needs of the Old Fort community, the release said.
Attendees will have the chance to socialize prior to the program, meet current Rotarians from the region, hear about the types of projects a new club could spearhead, and share their own visions for community improvement, according to the news release.
"Rotary is about more than just meetings; it's about taking action," a statement from the organizing committee said. "We want to see what Old Fort can do when we bring our collective skills and passions to the table."
Refreshments will be served, and the atmosphere will be casual. Whether you are a longtime resident or a newcomer looking to get involved, all are encouraged to stop by and see what Rotary is all about, reads the statement.
