Register girls for summer camp opportunities
Hundreds of girls across western and central North Carolina are gearing up to explore the outdoors at day, overnight and horse summer camp programs with Girl Scouts Carolinas Peaks to Piedmont (GSCP2P).
This summer, the overnight weeklong and half-week sessions of summer camp programs are hosted at Keyauwee Program Center in Sophia, North Carolina, for girls in rising grades 2-12. Day camps will be hosted in Greensboro, Hickory and Black Mountain for girls in rising grades 1-5, according to a news release.
"Girl Scout summer camp is an amazing opportunity for all girls to explore new possibilities outside of their normal routines," said Elaine Loyack, chief executive officer at GSCP2P. "At camp, girls can grow their independence and confidence through hands-on learning and make new friends that lift them up in a safe, supportive space."
This year's theme, Explore More Camp, encourages campers to engage in a variety of activities during their experience and "explore more" than what they normally would do. Programs are full of favorite traditional camp activities like swimming, archery, boating and campfires plus an opportunity to choose from a variety of new sessions like visiting the barn, participating in sports and games, learning new crafting skills and more.
This year, all overnight campers will get to enjoy an equestrian experience on site at the Circle C Equestrian Center at no additional cost.
Camp is for all girls and Girl Scouts, so they do not have to be a current member to have an exciting summer camp adventure.
The GSCP2P council also offers financial assistance so more girls can attend summer camp. After registering for a program and paying the $50 non-refundable deposit, families can access the online financial aid application. In 2025, overnight campers who applied for financial assistance received an average of $280 to use on registration fees.
There is still time to reserve a spot to Explore More Camp for a full week or half week session of overnight camp and day camps. Registrations should be complete at least 10 days before the session start date.
