Rotary Club of Marion announces grant program for fall 2026

The Rotary Club of Marion Foundation has funds for a special grant program for McDowell County's nonprofits and service organizations.
The fall cycle of the Rotary Club's 2026 local grants program is accepting applications. The deadline for grant submission is Wednesday, Oct. 14, at 3 p.m., according to a news release from the club.
The grants must be for specific projects that further the work of the nonprofit or service organization in McDowell County. Requests must be for at least $500 but cannot be more than $1,500. Projects must be completed by May 15, 2027.
While the club's foundation will consider all requests, it is focusing locally during this grant cycle on promoting:
â– Health and human or animal welfare
â– Community resource development
â– Education or youth programs
Funds for international grants or international service projects will not be accepted, the release said.
Grants will not cover capital requests, staff training, salaries, annual fundraising campaigns, sponsorship or general operating expenses, the release said. The club's foundation does not accept grant applications from schools.Organizations that received a grant check from Rotary in the last grant cycle are eligible for this cycle, according to the news release.
Groups requesting consideration should complete a form with the information required including covering all nine points. Incomplete applications without all of the following attachments will not be considered:
The organization's most recent profit/loss statement, 990 or completed financial statement for the year preceding the application current year organizational budget the specific program budget for which funding is requested with all expected sources of income listed, and their IRS tax-exempt letter or a signed agreement with a tax exempt organization who would act as their fiscal agent for this grant.
Grant requests and documentation must be received by this year's Rotary Small Grant Coordinator Tyler Mace, on or before 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 14. Submissions and documentation may be sent via email or hand delivered to Tyler Mace at mckinley_04@yahoo.com.
"After reviewing all grant requests, Rotary will notify you whether your request has been approved, denied or partially funded," reads the news release. "If you receive an award, we ask that you attend our Rotary Club meeting on Thursday, Dec. 3, 2026."
The club anticipates that the funds would be available at the Rotary Club meeting on Dec. 3.
