Last week, the Maxwell M. Corpening Jr. Memorial YMCA in Marion bid a fond farewell to its executive director of the past seven years: Toby Bramblett.
In 2019, Bramblett took over as the director of the local YMCA. He announced recently he will soon assume the director's role of another YMCA in Georgia.
The staff and members of the Corpening YMCA gathered to wish him well in his new position and thank him for his years of leadership.
"Toby's leadership has always reflected the YMCA's core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility," reads a Facebook post from the Corpening YMCA. "He led with a servant's heart, cared deeply for our members and staff, treated everyone with dignity and respect, approached challenges with honesty and integrity and carried the responsibility of leadership with humility and purpose.
"For many of us, Toby was more than a leader, he was a mentor, advocate, encourager and friend. His commitment to strengthening our community has left an impact that will continue to be felt for years to come. Through every program launched, every staff member supported, every family served, and every life changed, he helped build a stronger YMCA and a stronger community."
During his final all-staff gathering, Bramblett said "leadership is not about titles, but about service."
"That message perfectly reflects the legacy he leaves behind — a legacy of showing up, serving others, and leading with heart," the YMCA post said. "While we will miss his presence, guidance, and friendship, we are grateful for the seven years we had together and excited for the lives he will impact in Georgia. Thank you, Toby, for your leadership, your belief in people, and your commitment to the YMCA mission. Your legacy of service will continue to inspire us, and your impact will remain woven into the fabric of our YMCA family."
