An Old Fort woman charged with sex crimes against a child was sentenced in McDowell County Superior Court.
Jessica Annette Barnes, 33, of Gooseberry Drive, Marion, was found guilty of statutory sex offense with a child under 15. She was sentenced 144 months to 233 months in prison. She was given credit for 176 days time served.
In September 2022, deputies from the sheriff’s office took a report of possible sexual abuse of a child. An investigation led to the arrest of Barnes later that day, according to a news release. A search of the N.C. Department of Public Safety’s offender database shows Barnes has no previous convictions.
The following cases were heard in McDowell County Superior Court by Judge J. Thomas Davis and Prosecutor Ted Bell.
Jeremy DeWayne Bailey, 46, of Mt. Hebron Road, Old Fort, was found guilty of second-degree kidnapping. Must serve 12 months supervised probation. Must perform 48 hours of community service. Must pay court costs.

Andres Bautista, 20, of Wayne Street, Marion, was found guilty of second-degree forcible sex offense. Sentenced 58 to 130 months in prison. Given credit for 42 days time served.
Kenneth Eugene Hamilton, 56, of West High Street, Marion, was found guilty of 18 counts of felony probation violations.
Brittany Henson, 36, homeless, of Marion, was found guilty on three counts of breaking and entering and injury to real property. Must serve 12 months supervised probation. Must pay $130 for a court-appointed attorney. Given credit for seven days time served. Must pay court costs.

Michael Dale Honeycutt, 44, of Ramsey Road, Nebo, was found guilty of possession of methamphetamine. Must serve 30 months supervised probation. Given credit for one day time served. Must pay $97.50 for a court-appointed attorney. Must pay court costs.
Allyson Jennelle, 29, of Westmoreland Street, Marion, was found guilty of possession of methamphetamine. Must serve 24 months supervised probation. Must pay $195 for a court-appointed attorney. Must perform 72 hours of community service. Must pay court costs.
Ricky James McPeters, 40, of Morehead Road, Marion, was found guilty of assault on a female. Sentenced to 150 days in jail. Given credit for 88 days time served.
Harold Joseph Mullen, 31, of Beck Street, Marion, was found guilty of assault with intent to kill causing serious injury. Sentenced 50 to 72 months in prison. Given credit for 128 days time served.
Michael Wayne Noblitt, 43, of Dawns Drive, Marion, was found guilty of trafficking in methamphetamine by possession. Sentenced 70 to 93 months in prison. Fined $50,000.
Travis Mark Seals, 29, of Hunt Lane, Marion, was found guilty on two counts of sell and deliver a Schedule I controlled substance. Must serve 36 months supervised probation. Was found guilty of trafficking in LSD. Must serve 36 months supervised probation. Must pay court costs. Given credit for 25 days time served.
Justin David Self, 26, of Buck Creek Road, Marion, was found guilty of felony larceny and habitual felon. Sentenced 58 to 82 months in prison.
Steven Michael Sisk Jr., 39, of Lake Mountain View Drive, Marion, was found guilty of habitual larceny. Sentenced 20-33 months in prison. Given credit for 28 days time served.
Qudia Michele Sturdivant, 23, of Charlotte, was found guilty of possession with intent to deliver a Schedule III controlled substance. Must serve 12 months supervised probation. Must perform 24 hours of community service. Must pay court costs.
Calvin Ray Washington, 36, of Asheville, was found guilty of possession of a firearm by a felon. Must serve 36 months supervised probation. Given credit for 112 days time served. Must pay court costs. Must pay $747.50 for a court-appointed attorney.
Hunter Jackson Welch, 23, of Harmony Grove Road, Nebo, was found guilty of felony larceny. Must serve 30 months supervised probation. Must pay $550 in restitution to the victim. Must pay $167.50 for a court-appointed attorney. Given credit for 24 days time served. Must pay court costs.
DeMaurea Grant, 28, of Salisbury, was found guilty of injury to personal property. Given credit for 60 days time served.
Kevin Johnson, 38, of Proctor’s Knob Road, Marion, was found guilty of attempted second-degree arson. Must serve 48 months supervised probation.
James Hollfield III, 33, of Worley Road, Marion, was found guilty of first-degree statutory sex offense and indecent liberties with a child. Must serve 166-260 months in prison. Given credit for 438 months in prison. Must register as a sex offender for life.
Cody Waycaster, 32, of Westmoreland Drive, Marion, was found guilty of misdemeanor child abuse. Sentenced to 75 days in jail. Given credit for 10 days time served.
