New RV dealership opens in McDowell County; Old Fort RV Park reopens
More campers will have the opportunity to enjoy the great outdoors now that McDowell County has a new RV dealership and Old Fort RV Park has officially reopened.
Miles RV Center, based in Hendersonville, has opened a second location in Marion.
Miles RV Center is a dealer for recreational vehicles like Jayco, Coachmen, Winnebago, Aliner, Bontrager Outdoors and East to West. It also offers brand-name RVs such as Alliance, Axiom and Entegra Coach, according to Miles RV Center’s website. Along with a large selection of new travel trailers, fifth wheels, and toy haulers, the business sells Class A, Class B and Class C motorhomes, A-frames and teardrops.
Now, the Hendersonville dealer has opened its new location for Marion. It will be located off Exit 90 along Interstate 40. The address is 2678 Harmony Grove Road in the Nebo community. The location opened Monday. The parts and service center will open Sept. 1, according to the company's Facebook page.
Kelly DeBruhl, owner of Miles RV Center, said he is excited about opening the new location in McDowell County.
Last year, Camping World of Marion, originally Tom Johnson Camping Center, closed permanently and the large property has since been sold to the Baptists on Mission nonprofit organization.

Old Fort RV Park open
Earlier in August, Old Fort RV Park announced it is open again.
This park for recreational vehicles and campers first opened for business in August 2024. Then Hurricane Helene hit the area and the property was flooded.

“We were a brand-new park when the flood happened,” said co-owner John Safar.
He said the park was open for 35 days before Helene struck.
Safar said his park survived the flood from Helene because of how it is constructed. “We were flooded but our infrastructure was underground,” he said.
For the last 19 months, FEMA leased the property and placed victims of the hurricane in mobile homes on the site.
Safar said FEMA moved the last mobile homes off the property in May. He and the other owners had to redo the lots and install new landscaping in order to get it back to being an RV park again.
Old Fort RV Park is open again for patrons.
Now it is ready to welcome patrons again.
Old Fort RV Park is located at 1371 Parker Padgett Road next to Irma’s Produce. It has 50 spots.
“We are also one of the very few that is a year-round park,” Safar said. “We offer long-time and short-term spaces.”
